Today I will show you the korean-style sausage bread (also known as pizza bread). I believe you can find this in any korean bakery. One thing is that it takes a while to make because you have to let the dough rise in two steps (original recipe required 3 steps but I found this to be unnecessary). Credits go to Gold Star Mom for the original recipe. As I didn't take any pictures in between the steps, please refer to Gold Star Mom for step-by-step picture instructions. Since the instructions are in Korean, you will just have to use the pictures as a reference.
Ingredients
- 250 g bread flour
- 30 g sugar
- 5 g salt
- 5 g yeast
- 30 g butter
- 1 egg
- 120 g milk
- sausages
- handful of canned corn
- 1/4 onion
- garlic (optional)
- 2 spoons mayonnaise
- cheese
- 1/2 bell pepper
- ketchup
- parsley flakes
Steps
1. Mix together the bread flour, sugar, salt, yeast, butter, egg, and milk (I used a bread maker for this step).
2. Let the dough rise for about 40 minutes. I preheated the oven to 170 F, turned it off to let it cool, then put the dough in here to let it rise.
3. Divide up the dough into about 52 g each. Roll them out, place one sausage in the middle and wrap it up with the dough.
4. Using scissors, cut the sausage into pieces, making sure not to cut the dough completely (Refer to Gold Star Mom for detailed pictures).
5. Push the ends down completely. Then, push each sausage piece to the left and to the right, alternating until they are all flattened like a beavertail (again, refer to Gold Star Mom for detailed pictures).
6. As done in step 2, put the dough into the oven again and let the dough rise for 40 minutes.
7. After 30 minutes, dice the onion, bell pepper, and garlic. Mix them together with a handful of canned corn and 2 spoons of mayonnaise.
8. Take out the dough and preheat the oven to 360 F. While the oven is heating up, place about a spoonful of the mayo mixture in a line on top of the dough. Then, sprinkle some cheese and parsley flakes and top it off with ketchup.
9. Bake in the oven for about 17 - 18 minutes.
Note that baking times may differ depending on how strong your oven is.
I hope your sausage bread was successful!
Have a happy yummy day!
