Stir-fry Udon

Hello everyone!

This is one of the recipes I tried earlier this year. It's super easy to make and takes only 15 - 20 minutes to make.

Ingredients

  • Udon noodles
  • Onion
  • Bell pepper
  • Cabbage / lettuce
  • Bean sprouts
  • Garlic
  • Hot pepper powder (optional)
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Sesame oil
  • 3 spoons soy sauce
  • 1/2 spoon sugar
  • 1 spoon oyster sauce

I like to emphasize flexibility in cooking so I work with whatever ingredients I have in my fridge. Today, I didn't have bean sprouts and lettuce so I replaced lettuce with cabbage and passed on the bean sprouts.

For the sauce, you can use 1 full spoon of sugar or reduce soy sauce to 2 spoons if you like sweet flavours. On the other hand, if you prefer salty flavours, you can use the recipe above.

Steps

1. Cut the vegetables, mince the garlic, and start boiling water in a pot.

2. Once the water starts boiling, add in the udon noodles and cook for 1-2 minutes. Then drain and mix in a bit of sesame oil to prevent the noodles from sticking to each other.

3. Stir-fry vegetables and garlic in a pan and prepare the sauce on the side. I like to season my vegetables with salt and pepper as I stir-fry them but I will leave this up to you!

4. Continue to fry the vegetables until the onion becomes transparent. Then, add in the noodles and the sauce and mix until everything is coated with the sauce. If you prefer to eat spicy, add in the hot pepper powder at this stage and mix well.

5. Move to a plate and enjoy!

Have a happy yummy day!
